BIO

Over the past decade, Charlese has established herself as one of the most talented in the business. She has a unique talent of creating characters that are imaginative yet grounded in reality. With Charlese’s personal fashion influences ranging from 1969, the afro-futurism of the 70’s, Gianni Versace’s 90’s as well as her passion for travel and exploring new worlds. Charlese creates groundbreaking, vibrant period and contemporary costumes.

Charlese has costume designed 10 remarkable feature films over the last 10 years starting with Newlyweeds, which went on to win an Independent Spirit Award and premiered as part of 2013 Sundance NEXT. She then went on to design George Tillman’s Inevitable Defeat of Mister & Pete (Anthony Mackie & Jennifer Hudson), which also premiered at Sundance in 2013. Charlese has had several films premiere at TriBeCa film fest including: Vincent n Roxxy (2015 Starring Zoe Kravitz),  Little Boxes (2015) and Spike Lee produced See You Yesterday (2019). Her stunning work has also been seen on TV shows including Macro/ Netflix Original Raising Dion (Michael B. Jordan), which was number one internationally, as well as Kenya Barris’s Netflix Original sketch comedy show, Astronomy Club. Charlese’s forthcoming work includes the highly anticipated Judas and the Black Messiah ( Daniel Kaluuya, Lakeith Stanfield, Martin Sheen and Jesse Plemmons). Charlese has worked on projects with Warner Brothers, Columbia Pictures, NBC, ABC, Fox, Showtime, Sony, HULU and Netflix.

Currently Charlese is launching Black Designer Database, created in 2019 and re-launching her lifestyle brand, Char Ant Gold. She is a thoughtful, imaginative and resilient creative, who is compelled to be transparent about her journey while consistently offering her resources to fellow aspiring costume designers. Charlese is repped by Endeavor and an active member of the Costume Designers Guild (CDG 892).
